Tammy Parsons, Director of Nursing
While in the Army, Tammy was given the opportunity to attend the nursing program. Upon retiring, she has had many opportunities in a range of medical settings. Her favorite experience has been working in long-term and dementia care. In 2014, Tammy joined Watermark as a nurse. Then, she was promoted to Director of Nursing. Her dedication to the residents, families and staff is evident in the day-to-day management of the Nursing Department. Tammy enjoys working with the elderly and continually learns life lessons from their daily interactions of living in the moment and always being in the present.

Favorite way to spend free time: Going to the beach or the river, working in my yard, spending time with friends and family

Shannon Pettus, Life Enrichment Director
Shannon has worked for Watermark since 2016 and was the activities director before becoming the Life Enrichment Director. Shannon loves her job because she loves her residents. She appreciates that the administration and Board of Directors’ biggest goal is to help residents remain active and independent for as long as possible. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in Family Psychology and post baccalaureate work in Elementary Education. She spent several years working in education and ministry. Her time as a hospice chaplain and running activities in camps helped prepare her for her passion at Watermark. She tries to get to know each resident personally and in engages them in life where they are. She plans activities that involve as many residents in as many areas as possible. Shannon loves seeing their zeal and honesty about life, laughing with them every day and watching them form relationships that are like family.

Favorite way to spend free time: Watching movies, kayaking, going to festivals, spending time with my puppy, traveling.

Casey Howell, LPN
Casey loves working at The Watermark because it gives her a chance to enrich the lives of the elderly and take care of them in their later years. Casey finds this work very fulfilling. As a former hair stylist, she loves helping residents style their hair. She always tries to take the time to listen to her residents if they have a problem or they just want to talk. Hearing their stories of their past years and understanding all they have been through is a learning experience for Casey. Casey worked as an LPN at an urgent care for 5 years right out of nursing school. She then worked at a urology practice and had a short stint as an LPN at a prison before joining The Watermark team. She graduated from Faulkner State Community College with an Associate’s degree in Science and then completed LPN school.
Favorite band: Anything from the 80s or 90. I love all music.

Favorite movie: The Wizard of Oz. I have seen it 400 times.
Favorite way to spend free time: I go to the beach, casino or bike riding.

Julie Runnels, Office Assistant
Julie was born and raised in Mississippi and relocated to Florida for a fresh start. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and dog, Paris. Julie captured our attention with her bright personality and sweet disposition. She is always smiling and helping residents around the community. She is far more than an office assistant, going above and beyond for everyone who walks through the door. Families, residents, staff and visitors adore Julie and feel comfortable speaking with her on a personal level. She is the first face you see, and she puts everyone at ease with her nurturing demeanor. Her willingness to tackle any task and be by everyone's side has made her role in the community a special one.
